    About H.G Bhurijana Prabhu

H.G.Bhurijana Prabhu first met Srila Prabhupada at 26 Second Ave, and was initiated by Srila Prabhupada in 1968. After preaching in Japan for about a year, in 1970 he opened ISKCON's first Hong Kong center. Throughout the early 1970s Srila Prabhupada would many times meet with Bhurijana during Srila Prabhupada's tours of the Far East: Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Fiji, Australia and New Zealand. In his last meeting in 1976, Bhurijana Prabhu was requested by Srila Prabhupada to help develop the educational system. Since then he has taught both academic and ashrama courses in Gita-Nagari and Vrindavana and has conducted several teacher training courses in Vrindavana. In 1987, in Vrindavana, he began the Vaisnava Institute for Higher Education, where he has taught courses in teaching, writing, and the main books of Srila Prabhupada -- Bhagavad-gita As It Is, Srimad-Bhagavatam, The Nectar of Devotion, The Nectar of Instruction, and Sri Isopanisad.   To fulfill Srila Prabhupada's desire, he is now organizing degree courses on Srila Prabhupada's books, especially the first six cantos of the Bhagavatam. No wonder that his main topic at Govardhan Retreat is Bhagavatam. He has written several books, including The Art of Teaching, Surrender Unto Me (in-depth study of the Bhagavad-gita), Studying Srimad-Bhagavatam, My Glorious Master and "Unveiling His Lotus Feet" - in-depth study of the 1st 4 Cantos of Srimad-Bhagavatam.

  • How do I stop myself from worrying all the time? Why do I overthink? Whom do I blame for my problems? Is my mind a friend or an enemy? My life seems so useless -what is the point of living? Is happiness achievable despite all my troubles? If any of these questions resonate with you, corporate practitioner turned monk and teacher Venugopal Acharya has the answers you're looking for. Beginning with the premise that the solution to an anxious or restless mind lies not in controlling the mind - an impossible task at the best of times - but in learning how to manage it, he recommends three powerful yet simple principles for mind management and happy living: Awareness, Acceptance and Aspiration. Moving a step ahead of merely outlining these 'self-help methods', the Acharya explains - through anecdotes from history and contemporary events as well as nuggets from ancient Indian scriptures - how to integrate these distinct concepts into a three-step practice for daily living and achieve benefits that are simultaneously immediate and long-lasting. An invaluable guide to self-transformation that is tailor-made for modern living, Mind Your Mind gently but powerfully reveals that you are much more than your mind - and you can, therefore, live a fulfilling, uncomplicated and contented life beyond it.     Venugopal Acharya is a full-time teacher, monk and counsellor at ISKCON. Before choosing the monastic order twenty years ago, he worked in the corporate sector, having earned an MBA in finance and a master's degree in international finance. He is a seasoned international speaker and has addressed audiences in the United Kingdom, Russia, Netherlands, Switzerland, Bahrain and Australia, sharing his thoughts on mental hygiene, emotional fulfilment and spiritual discipline. • Karna on Trial deftly cast away myriads of misconception about the enigmatic ‘unsung hero’ unveiling his true position in Vyasdeva’s Mahabharata. In the Mahabharata , shalya describes Karna’s valour during the final battle between Arjuna and Karna – ‘Karna was like the desire tree and fulfilled the wishes of anyone who made any demand , just like birds seeking shelter from a tree. Karna always gave regardless of the consequences. Then why is Karna, in the introduction to the great epic , referred to as the trunk of a bitter tree ? this brings us to the question of what constitutes righteous conduct ?
